Poster Analysis 4.

Inception:

-The poster uses mostly dark shades to reflect the serious tone of the movie.
- The upside down street in this poster emphasise the feeling of a dream like state and also shows the psychological element to the movie.
-Leonardo’s name on the poster is much bigger than that of the other stars as he is more known and will have a bigger pre-determined audience, also his face in the poster is the only one facing towards the audience which makes him instantly recognisable, the fact that he is placed in the middle makes him instantly stand out amongst the others.
-The flying debris everywhere in this poster shows the destruction and action through the movie as does the big explosion in the background.
-The use of the red title connotes danger and action.
-The use of guns in the poster shows the audience that there will be action throughout the movie.
-Using the success of the director’s movie is used as a unique selling point as are the naming of various stars.
-The tagline introduces the idea of dreams and questioning reality, also adding to the psychological side.
-Naming the IMAX as a place to watch the movie will attract more people as it adds to the cinema experience.
-This poster is very well laid out with amazing graphics that show this to be a high concept movie also communicating successful to the target audience which I would guess to be mostly male.
-This poster looks like it was expensive to produce with the amount of graphics used throughout it.

Poster Analysis 2.

The Last Exorcism

-The lack of colour in this poster shows that the film will be a dark one and the red has connotations of evil/blood.
-The main figure in this poster is off a girl in a deformed/possessed position which shows this to be a horror movie.
-I would say that this is intended for a late teenage earlier twenties audience and also people who are fans of horror movies.
-The conventions of the horror genre used on this are the use of red, the possessed girl and the cross just above her.
-The unique selling point on this poster is the naming of Eli Roth as the director as he is synonymous with the horror genre.
-The girl in a unusual position grabs the audience’s attention as it is not of the ordinary.
- I would say that this poster was quite cheap to make as it could easily be a still from the movie with some graphic altercations.
-I think this poster does well to communicate to its audience what genre the movie is.
-The use of the cross in this above the possessed girl could be seen as offensive to some people.

Poster Analysis 3.

Buried Poster:

-The white colouring on this poster shaped out in a spiralled shape gives the person in the middle of the poster the appearance of being trapped which conveys the theme of the movie brilliantly.
-The person in the middle of the poster is just that, right in the middle which gives it the look of being trapped and alone, also it is sprawled out which continues the theme of death.
-The tagline on this poster is fully in capitols which make it stand out; also it is successful in grabbing the audience’s attention with a short powerful sentence.
-The use of black colouring on this poster suggests the serious tone of the movie.
-The title of the movie is in red which has connotations of danger and death, also it is on a diagonal which gives a sense of drama and unease.
-The ‘Coming Soon’ is in red and in capitols which makes it stand out to the audience.
-I think this poster is very effective in grabbing the audience’s attention as it is very eyes catching and effectively uses colours to convey the themes of the movie to the audience.

Poster Analysis 1.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World.

-A range of bright colours are used on this poster to give it a feel of a comic book.
-The whole poster is visually overloaded, the first thing that stands out is the face of the star Michael Cera and the violence happening at the bottom of the poster, however the title doesn’t stand out very much in this poster because the font blends into the background too much and is difficult to make out.
-This poster heavily relies on visual images to show the viewer that it is a comic book like movie and that it contains comic book like violence the only words on this are the title.
- I think the intended audience for this poster is teenagers and comic book fans.
-This poster looks like it was very expensive to produce as it is all graphically and illustratively produced.
- The genre conventions are used massively across the whole poster as it looks like comic book graphics, also the violence at the foot of the poster reiterates this.
-There is only one unique selling point on this poster and that is the face of Michael Cera who will have a pre-determined audience.
-The use of bright colours automatically draws the audiences attention and effectively communicates with them the genre of the movie, overall I would say this poster is very well put together.

Teaser trailer - Definition

Teaser trailer - Definition:
"A teaser trailer is a truncated version of a theatrical trailer intended to entice the audience about an upcoming movie and to begin hype on major films.

Teaser trailers, unlike the typical theatrical trailer, are usually very short in length, usually under 30 seconds. The purpose of the teaser trailer is not to show a bunch of out-of-context clips in order to give the audience an understanding about the movie's plot or theme, but rather to let them know that the movie is coming up in the near future, and to add to the hype of the upcoming movie event. Teaser trailers are often made while the film is still in production or being edited and as a result they may feature scenes or alternate versions of scenes that are not in the finished film. Teaser trailers today are increasingly focused on internet downloading and the convention circuit.

Teaser trailers are usually only made for big-budget and popularly themed movies. Recent examples of major motion picture events that used teaser trailers to gain hype are the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the new Star Wars films and the Spider-Man films. An early example of the teaser trailer was the one for the Superman film by Richard Donner when as the film was already nearly a year late was designed to re-invigorate interest in the release.

Teaser trailers are usually shown among other movie previews, and appear months before the longer and more detailed theatrical trailer does. Some teasers have been known to appear as long as nine months to a year prior to the movie's final release date. While teaser trailers are regarded as a bonus to cinema goers in the case of the teaser trailer for The Phantom Menace that was attached to the film 'The Siege'' it was reported that the majority of the audience walked out after the trailer had screened.
