Magazine Cover Analysis 2.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (Empire):

-  The central figure in this poster is the actor Michael Cera, as he is the central figure he is also the main focus as they are using him to sell the movie ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. The World’, he will have a pre-determined audience. He is holding a sword that is on fire which gives the film the feeling of being an action film.
-The header of the magazine is cover partly by Michael Cera’s head, as it is a recognisable enough magazine to not need to have the whole title on show.
-  The red background has connotation of danger and violence which emphasises the action of the movie. The lines on the background give it a comic book like effect, which shows that the film is adaptations of comic books.
- The title of the film is in a big font and in capitols which make it stand out, the actual font of the writing looks cartoon like which emphasises the comic book look to this movie.  Also it is diagonal which adds a sense of drama.
- The insert next to Michael Cera’s leg has a white background which makes it stand out as does the red writing and the capitol letters.
-At the footer of the page are other articles included, this is made to stand out by the big black plus sign to the side of it, also with the use of capitol letters to make it stand out.
- The mode of address of this particular cover is informal and indirect.
